Interpreting Mud: Demystifying Functional Pottery

What can I expect to create?:
Participants can expect to end the week with at least a few finished pieces of functional pottery. Such as a mug, cup, and/or bowl.

Will I need to work outside of class?:
Yes, participants wishing to create complex or ambitious projects should expect to spend additional time working outside of class.

Do I need experience to take this class?:
All experience levels welcome, including beginners

What do I need to bring to class?:
Clothes you don’t mind washing, closed-toed shoes for the studio, and any pictures of functional pottery you’d like for inspiration.

For those new (and also perhaps those returning to the potter’s wheel)…

…creating something functional from a lump of clay can seem a daunting task.

This course will help demystify the complexities of wheel-throwing by breaking the process down step-by-step.  In an encouraging and creative space, we will explore and practice those steps together.  We will start with the basics, throw clay to bats, and guide the clay to a finished product!  If you don’t understand that last sentence, no worries – join us and find out!
