Combine bookbinding techniques and calligraphy in an exploration of journal-making as creative expression.
Students will make a journal and fill it with surface techniques such as collage, gel print, sumi sink art, use of various inks, and a bit of Japanese Sashiko.
Class time:
Introduction of surface techniques, demo by teacher, and exploration by students.
What you can expect to create:
Students may finish a journal with a variety of surface techniques..Completion of this journal is not required. Students may also construct a small handmade book.

Mary McLoed has a Masters of Education degree, with a specialization in iIntegrated Arts from Lesley University.
