Jamie Kelly

Jamie Kelly is a blacksmith from Appalachia with over 20 years of experience at the forge.  Jamie is passionate about teaching, particularly welcoming students who may not have felt represented or included in traditional blacksmithing spaces. His work is deeply rooted in family heritage—his grandfather was a farrier, and the rhythmic clang of hammer on anvil is part of his Irish lineage.

Committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming learning environment, Jamie has mentored many young people who have apprenticed under him and gone on to establish their own forges. His teaching focuses on making blacksmithing accessible, offering a pathway for anyone interested in the craft, whether for artistic expression, practical skill-building, or a connection to history. Through his workshops, Jamie fosters a community where old traditions meet new hands, ensuring that blacksmithing continues to thrive for future generations. Whether you’re picking up a hammer for the first time or looking to refine your skills, Jamie invites you to the forge to create something functional and forge a new path forward.
