Cynthia Noyd

Cynthia am a teaching artist, living and working in  Wenatchee in the heart of Washington State.  She is a self-described landscape painter working in a variety of media, and expressing herself through art is a passion driven from deep within.

She believes we all feel at our best when we create, and helping others to create is a great joy for her. Her 20 years of teaching grades K-12 at The River Academy have been a delight and an inspiration – see what kids can do when given the opportunity and encouragement. She teaches classical drawing and painting skills as foundational for all forms of media.

Her current work represents landscapes. The process involves layering hand-painted rice paper and Chinese watercolor. More importantly, her idea is to allow the materials, shapes, and marks to speak, inform, and lead the viewer to ask questions. She wants the viewer to step into the work with one idea, and leave with three ideas.  Once captured, our viewer takes in the colors, shapes, lines, and may be surprised to notice something unsuspected. Just when you think you understand, you realize there’s more to explore.
