Workshop | The Fools Journey: Exploring Life’s Moments through Tarot
With Kayleigh Lang
August 13 - 16, 2026
This program happens over a long weekend, beginning on Thursday, August 13th and ending on Sunday, August 16th. Class runs Friday morning through Saturday morning, with additional programming on Thursday and Sunday.
Uncover the symbolism of Tarot as a tool that leads to self-reflection and understanding through the exploration of the Fool’s Journey, a metaphor for the journey of life explained through the Major Arcana of the Tarot deck. In this workshop participants will explore personal connections to the themes of each card, while applying mixed-media and collage techniques to create symbolic art pieces. Through reflection, open discussion, and hands-on studio work, this course can offer a transformative space to explore identity, resilience and the power of storytelling.
What creative modalities are used in this course?
Collage, Painting & Mixed-Media
What will class time be like?
Class time will blend guided reflection, open discussion, and hands-on mixed-media & collage art making. Sessions begin with explanation and discussion surrounding the themes of the Tarot Major Arcana, followed by studio time to create symbolic mixed-media collage, inspired by the card themes & personal experience. Space for conversation and optional sharing supports connection while honoring individual pace and process.
Will I need to work outside of class?
While class time is designed to accommodate most participants’ creative processes, some you may wish to spend additional time on your projects outside of class, depending on personal pace and level of detail.
Do I need experience to take this class?
No prior art experience is required, but a basic understanding of creative processes could enhance the experience.
What do I need to bring to class?
An apron, paper, writing instruments & materials will be provided. It is recommended you wear clothing you wouldn’t mind getting paint or glue on. Please also bring a journal and any personal materials you may want to use for journaling reflection and/or mixed media & collage. You can expect to create 2-3 collages or small pieces to take home with you.
