Explore the art of stitching as a form of personal expression in this welcoming, hands-on workshop. Through simple hand stitches, guided experimentation, and reflective conversation, participants learn to listen to their materials and develop a visual language in thread. This is not an embroidery workshop; instead, stitches are used as a portal for creative play and exploration. Emphasis is placed on process, curiosity, and creative choices rather than perfection. Participants will leave with renewed artistic awareness and playful prompts to nourish creative growth in any medium.
No prior stitching experience is required, only a willingness to explore.
What creative modalities are used in this course?
Hand stitching, creative experimentation, reflective practice, and visual storytelling.
What will class time be like?
Class time includes demonstrations, guided stitch exercises, independent exploration, and reflective discussion. Participants will have ample time to practice new techniques, experiment with creative prompts, receive individualized feedback, and develop their own expressive approach to stitch in a relaxed, supportive environment.
Will I need to work outside of class?
No, but the studio will be open and available to you.
Do I need experience to take this class?
No experience needed. Long-practicing sewers and beginners welcome.
What do I need to bring to class?
A notebook, if you’d like.
