This course is a long-weekend workshop, beginning on Thursday, September 10th and ending on Sunday, September 13th. Class sessions run Friday 9:30 am – 12:30 pm & 2 pm – 5 pm, Saturday 9:30 am – 12:30 pm & 2 pm – 5 pm with additional programming on Thursday & Sunday.

Join us for a lively weekend as we explore beginning techniques in hand building and wheel thrown pottery. Learn how to sculpt, cut, carve and imprint objects in clay with your hands and various pottery tools. Get inspiration and insight into the wonderful world of clay!

This class will include only a bisque firing, not a glaze firing, if you would like to glaze and fire your pieces please inquire with a guild staff member about your options!

What creative modalities are used in this course?

Hand building and wheel thrown pottery

What will class time be like?

Students will be welcome to explore various ideas in clay. Demos will be available.

Due to the nature of the firing process sessions will be more focused toward the beginning of the weekend.

Will I need to work outside of class?

Yes, if you wish to get a piece ready to be in the bisque firing. If you just want to learn and play with clay, don’t worry about it!

Do I need experience to take this class?

All experience levels welcome, beginners encouraged.

What do I need to bring to class?

Comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting messy.
