Week 6: All Mixed Up - Weaving Wonders

Date and Time Details: The week begins Sunday afternoon at 6:00 pm for dinner and runs through Saturday morning brunch at 10:30 am.

What will class time be like?: Class will begin with and explanation and examples of possible projects. Students will then plan a project by finding the yarns they want, choosing a weave structure, winding a warp, threading their looms and weaving the project.

Will I need to work outside of class?: Yes, if you are working on a complex project.

What can I expect to create?: Most students will create one project. Highly motivated and experienced students can create a larger or more complex project or two simpler ones.

Do I need experience to take this class?: All experience levels welcome, including beginners.

What do I need to bring to class?: Students can bring sketch books and graph paper. They may bring a particular yarn they want to incorporate into their project but that is not required.

In this class you will create a weaving project using a variety of yarns weights and textures in your warp. Tips for combining different yarns will be discussed as well as various methods for designing a project and putting it on the loom. Students will create one project of their choice. Suggested projects include: scarf, shawl, Mobius shawl, table runner, wall hanging, cloth to make a tote bag, or other similar size project.
