This program is part of our Summer Program, beginning on Sunday (July 19) and ending on Saturday (July 25).  Class runs Monday morning through Friday morning, with additional programming on Sunday and Saturday.

In this course, we will explore drawing as a practice of “being”- being where we are, being with what we notice, and being with our unique visual language of expression. Using our immediate environment as a source, we will work with the fundamentals of drawing to observe and describe what we see. Through exercises and prompts, we will develop our perceptual abilities, explore techniques, and test expressive possibilities with materials and composition.

What can I expect to create in this class?

Participants can expect to create several drawings based on their chosen focus, with the only constraint being time and the level of detail pursued.

What will class time be like?

Class time will include time for demonstrations and instruction, drawing exercises that attune the eyes and hands, and discussions.

Will I need to work outside of class?

Though not required, students may choose to use open studio time to continue work on their projects.

Do I need experience to take this class?

All levels of experience are welcome!

What do I need to bring to class?

Bring appropriate footwear and clothing for both indoor and outdoor comfort, because we may spend some time outside.  Bring any favorite sketchbooks, drawing utensils, and materials – but all essential materials will be provided.
