Summer Week 1 | Mandalas in Watercolor
With Vonda Drees
June 7 - 13, 2026
This program is part of our Summer Program, beginning on Sunday (June 7) and ending on Saturday (June 13). Class runs Monday morning through Friday morning, with additional programming on Sunday and Saturday.
Making mandalas can help slow us down to savor each expression of pen and brush on paper. Our hearts awaken to the significance of the stroke that awaits our noticing. Through the art form of mandala and the medium of watercolor, step-by-step processes will render beautifully harmonious patterns. Creativity, curiosity, and conversation will all come into play.
What can I expect to create in this class?
Participants will complete several small and/or medium-sized artworks, including the following sizes: four to eight postcard-sized, five or six 9″x12″ images.
What will class time be like?
Each session will begin with step-by-step instructions while participants do the same process in their sketchbooks. After the lesson, there will be ample time for creating their own work. Before the end of each session, we will gather to share insights/stories about our experience.
Will I need to work outside of class?
No, but you are welcome to do so.
Do I need experience to take this class?
All experience levels are welcome, especially beginners!
What do I need to bring to class?
All essential materials will be provided, though you may bring a personal sketchbook.
