Learn the techniques of symmetrical and asymmetrical mandala design, the golden spiral, and the Flower of Life.

Each session will begin with a teaching demonstration, followed by time to practice the pattern. After the pattern is learned, we’ll work in sketchbooks, contemplating the visual stories we want to express through symbolism, color, line work and geometric composition. Using our sketches and studies as guides, we will then create our paintings.

Facilitate the technical learning of mandala construction and basic watercolor skills, as well as host a space for meditative and healing encounters with the Creative Spirit.
Each session will begin with step by step instructions while participants do the same process in their sketchbooks. After the lesson, there will be ample time for creating their own work. Prior to the end of each session, we will gather to share insights/stories about what we experienced.

Making mandalas can help us slow down and savor each expression of pen and brush on paper. Our hearts awaken to the significance of the stroke that awaits our noticing.
Through the art form of mandala and the medium of watercolor, step-by-step processes will render beautifully harmonious patterns. Creativity, curiosity, and conversation will all come into play.
