New to stained glass? This is the class for you!

In this class, students will create a 1-2 soldered stained pieces using the glass and facilities in the Grunewald Guild’s stained-glass studio.

The process includes:
• Drawing a pattern, copying it, and cutting out the stained-glass cardboard templates.
• Selecting and cutting the glass pieces using both straight edges and mild curves.
• Trimming the pieces to fit using grozing pliers and a grinder.
• Applying copper foil to the edges and fitting the pieces into a frame.
• Soldering the foil joints.
• Finishing the piece with a zinc cane frame.

Learn about the elements of stained glass design (lines and color), selecting and cutting glass, and soldering it together into a finished piece. Students will be encouraged to play with the beautiful colors and textures available in the Gruenewald Guild’s Glass Studio and become comfortable enough with the techniques to be able to make their own pieces.
