In this short class, students will create two or more soldered stained pieces using the glass and facilities in the Grunewald Guild’s stained-glass studio. The project steps include:
• Drawing a pattern, copying it, and cutting out the stained-glass cardboard templates.
• Selecting and cutting the glass pieces using both straight edges and mild curves.
• Trimming the pieces to fit using grozing pliers and a grinder.
• Applying copper foil to the edges and fitting the pieces into a frame.
• Soldering the foil joints.
• Finishing the piece with a zinc cane frame.

Beginner students will feel comfortable making their own stained glass projects and to help other students with more challenging projects.

The objective is to have fun, feel inspired, and delight in the play of colors and shapes inherent in stained glass projects.
