With Sarah Sprouse
June 3 - July 8, 2025

This is a 6 week introductory wheel throwing class beginning June 3rd and running through July 8th. Meeting Tuesday evenings from 5:30-8:00pm.
If you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at pottery and learn the art of wheel throwing, this 6-week introductory class is the perfect opportunity! Held on Tuesday evenings from 5:30–8:00 pm, this class is designed for locals who are interested in diving into ceramics while gaining the foundational skills to continue creating in the Guild’s open pottery studios.
Throughout the course, you’ll learn the essential techniques of wheel throwing, from centering clay to shaping and trimming your pieces. We’ll guide you through the entire ceramic process, starting with the basics and progressing to glazing. In addition to hands-on learning, you’ll have the chance to experiment with different techniques.
As part of the class, students will also have access to the Guild’s open studio on Wednesday and Thursday evenings at no extra cost. This class is designed with locals in mind who are looking to deepen their connection to the Guild and continue creating pottery in a supportive and inspiring environment. Whether you’re just starting or looking to refine your technique, you’ll gain confidence and enjoy the process of turning clay into functional art.
By the end of the course, you’ll have a collection of your own wheel-thrown pottery pieces and a solid foundation to continue your practice.
Class fee includes:
Use of underglazes and glazes available at the Guild
2 kiln firings
You may bring your own clay, use your clay from previous sessions, or purchase additional clay for $1 per lbs. New clay ($20) or $15 per bag for recycled clay.
