Glaze and Play: Gelli Printing with Underglaze
With Sarah Sprouse
May 30 - June 1, 2025

Combining screen printing and surface exploration this workshop invites you to experiment and play!
Join us for a weekend of creative exploration in “Glaze and Play: Gelli Printing with Underglaze.” This workshop introduces the innovative technique of gelli printing, paired with underglaze, to create vibrant, unique designs on your pottery. Whether you’re a seasoned potter or a complete beginner, you’ll discover new ways to add intricate patterns, textures, and colors to your ceramic pieces using a simple and playful process.
You’ll start by learning how to make your own gelli plate, a flexible, reusable printing surface, and use it with underglaze to create a screen printing effect on your ceramic pieces. You’ll experiment with layering colors, textures, and prints, creating one-of-a-kind designs that bring your pottery to life.
No prior ceramics experience is needed—just bring your curiosity and willingness to play. If you have your own ceramic pots, feel free to bring them to work with, or if you prefer, we can provide forms for you to experiment with during the class.
This workshop begins on Friday evening, May 30th, and runs all day Saturday with three engaging class sessions. You’ll leave with a new set of skills, ready to explore the world of ceramics through a fresh, artistic lens.
Whether you’re looking to personalize your ceramics or simply enjoy a weekend of creative play, this class is for you!
