This week-long course is part of our annual Fall Sacred Arts (FSA) Program, beginning on Sunday, November 1st and ending on Saturday, November 7th. Class takes place Monday morning through Friday morning, with additional programming on Sunday and Saturday.

Blending the best of traditional stained glass windows and mosaic techniques, this glass-on-glass mosaic class is an opportunity to explore vibrant color and radiant light! A rich palette of glass pieces encourages creative experimentation and joyful discovery, enabling students to create mosaic artworks that may feature bold patterns or delicate gradients.  Whether you’re drawn to abstract expression or representational imagery, this course offers a welcoming space to play, make, and shine.

What can I expect to create in the course?

Participants can expect to complete an 8×10 or similar-sized framed stained glass mosaic.

What will class time be like?

Through hands-on instruction, students will learn the fundamentals of glass cutting, design composition, and safe mosaic techniques to bring their visions to life.

Will I need to work outside of class?

It is not necessary for participants to work outside of class time to complete projects for this class, but some may choose to do so, especially if their designs are intricate.

Do I need experience to take this class?

Beginners are welcome and encouraged!

What do I need to bring to class?

All materials are provided. However, if participants have special frames, including those of unusual size/shape, fitted with clear glass (old windows work well), we can definitely use those as vehicles for a truly custom stained glass mosaic!  Participants may want to bring design ideas (Pinterest has a great collection of stained glass mosaics) and/or sketches or color schemes, but we will work on designs in class, as well.  Please bring one set of clothes that can get dirty for the day we grout our projects.
