Fabric collage provides the opportunity to explore as many styles as there are makers.
In this class, we will explore fabric collage as it relates to mosaic or stained glass, using fabric fusing and some non-standard materials to create small works for the wall or the coffee table. Sewing machines are optional, but if you want to finish one piece rather than start several, bring it along.
Students will learn the use of some non-standard materials in producing fabric work, as well as design and color interaction. Samples and completed works will provide inspiration.
Day 1: Students will learn the construction technique with a small provided project
Days 2-4: Students will design work in their own style, receiving guidance regarding the technical aspects of construction and fabric/color selection.
Students will have the choice of bringing their own sewing machine and completing one work, or focusing on designing and creating several pieces to be finished at home.
Students will be expected to bring some tools and materials with them to class – click here to view the material list.
