Will I need to work outside of class?: Yes, participants wishing to create complex or ambitious projects should expect to spend additional time working outside of class.

Do I need experience to take this class?: All experience levels welcome, including beginners

What do I need to bring to class?: Bring a sketchbook and/or journal, pencil and/or pen, clothing you don't mind marring.

Minimum age of participant: 14

What kinds & quantities of projects can participants expect to create in this class?: One primary surface and several smaller (perhaps experimental) pieces.

The moment we begin making art, we are undertaking the work of composition.

Whether we are thinking about it or not, composition is elemental to art-making. In this class we will actively create composition in the context of acrylic mixed- media and collage.

I will talk about our approach, offer prompts for journaling, and demonstrate techniques. We will have time for sharing and interaction, as well as plenty of space for art-making.

Scott Burnett is a Seattle artist, musician and pastor. He hails from New York’s Ulster County where he was influenced by the Woodstock arts community.
